More Spring

We missed last year, so I was excited to take the kids back to the Sal and Mookie's Street Carnival which benefits Batson. Aside from Avery (still) being deathly afraid of the giant-headed chef, she and Bryce had a blast playing games and bouncing around. Afterwards, we headed into Sal and Mookie's for lunch AND dessert. It was a great day, and I made it on my own with both kids (and no meltdowns)!

We did it! We came really close to selling enough items for the school fundraiser in the fall, but this time, we had just enough. Avery was SO excited to get on the red carpet and ride in a PINK Hummer limo to eat pizza! She and her friends had the best time, and it made my heart happy that she got to go.

Avery went in on April 7th to have tubes replaced in her ears. She also underwent otoplasty and got her ears pierced! She was thrilled about getting her ears pierced, and her first pair were little pink butterflies. Avery did really well, but she was given a ton of medication for sedation. It took her a long while to come to, and we didn't leave Batson until around 6:30 P.M. or so. The next day she was a little sore (which would be really sore for the average kid without her pain tolerance), but she was doing great! She looks so much older to me with her "new ears"! The bear she is carrying that went to surgery with her is from our sweet friend, Mrs. Peggy Jackson. Avery named him "Baby Bear".

April 8th was Dad's birthday. Avery asked Jake if we were going to send him some balloons in Heaven as she was on her way to see her GiGi. Of course, a mommy has to get balloons after her baby thinks of something like that. Both Avery and Bryce were excited to send them to their Papaw, and it did my heart some good to see them remember him with joy.

Avery asked her G to take her to Cracker Barrel after her surgery. It took her until Saturday to really feel up to eating, so we all went.

Notice any difference?

We ended that weekend by playing outside and enjoying the nice weather.

Bryce had fun dressing for "Week of the Young Child" at school with his friends.

He picked out some new Star Wars pajamas. He seems to know an awful lot about something he's never seen, lol. It's so funny the conversations 3 year olds have at school. His best bud, Edison, must tell him all about "Dark Vadur" as he says.

On career day, Bryce wanted to be an excavator operator! The kid loves machinery and is definitely ALL BOY!

Camo Day (he wore shorts that you can't really see in the pic)

Disney Day

Sports Day (baseball shirt) Can you tell Mommy was struggling to keep up this week?

On Saturday, Bryce and I had a "Mommy and Son" day! We started out with Shipley's for breakfast and headed to Touch a Truck Jackson at Trustmark Park. The kid was overwhelmed! His favorites were the garbage truck (the horn was awesome) and driving the "digger"! We stopped by for a Happy Meal afterwards and even took a nap before picking up Avery from Grammy.

Just a Monday afternoon at the park...

Then...this happened. Avery got really sick! She didn't sleep well the night before, and her heart rate was up at school all day. It stayed up with no fever, so I contacted our cardio nurse. Dr. Ebeid ended up wanting us to come in for an EKG. Jake was out of town, so I headed to Batson with both kids in tow. The EKG looked okay, so I decided to grab something to eat on the way home. Avery gagged and threw up all over the place! I was already feeling sick from being pregnant, so that was fun to clean up! Bless her heart, I cleaned her up as best as I could, and took turns carrying them both to the parking garage. There, I stripped her down, and buckled her up. By the time we got home, Avery had 104 degree fever! Where was that earlier? As bad as that temp. is, I was actually a bit relieved to know she was getting that kind of sick after the afternoon we'd had. The really sad part is that I haven't seen her this sick in a long time! It was awful. I was sure it was the flu, but that was negative. We ended up on an antibiotic and some Mucinex. After several days and a few phone calls to the doctor (after our appointment), she finally got better.

Bryce ended up sick after that; however, his just involved fever. He seemed fine as long as it was down. I am so glad he didn't get what Avery had!

Avery and Jake went to Iron Horse to celebrate Matt's birthday. Avery was so excited! Bryce was sick, so we stayed at home.

Mother's Day! Kid-made gifts are the best treasures. Jake also gave me a Yeti tumbler, and I love it! We went to church, and the kids gave me some bath salts and a potted plant. Then, we had lunch at G's.

Avery went skating for the first time at her friend's birthday party. She loves getting to play with Carter and go to his mommy's room in the afternoons at school. She now has a new found love for skating. I think Daddy had just as much fun as she did in a place where he spent time as a kid.

Superhero Day at PLE: The kids had a superhero day for doing such a great job with testing. Avery had scored really low before getting her tubes replaced, then I found out she couldn't even hear out of one ear! She took the STAR test again after tubes and totally rocked it! She didn't do quite as well on the final test as she did on that one, but the growth she showed from the beginning of the year was amazing! It feels so good to see her doing well in school.

Field Day at PLE = "the best day ever" to Avery

Is Kindergarten really over? I am SO proud of this child. She never fails to exceed our expectations, and she even makes me feel kind of bad for not expecting enough out of her!

Computer Award

Book It Award

We are PROUD of this girl.

Scout Guide Jackson give Friend's of Children's Hospital an ad in each issue. Avery loves doing stuff with Batson, and this was right up her alley! She had fun playing model, and the ad turned out adorable.

Some things to remember...
Bryce: "Just chill-ax", "I'm just gonna chill for a minute." "My favorite color is green", "Can I have a ------?....If you sleep in your bed....It's ok.....I'll just get one later"
"I want a HULK SMASH birthday!" "I just want to hug and kiss you, Mommy" "How'd the baby get in there?" "It's going to cut itself out!"
Bryce is hilarious and smart. His facial expressions and the things he says make it hard not to cackle. He's at a whine and cry stage when he doesn't get his way, but his sweet smile, hugs, and kisses win your heart. He likes to wear sunglasses, and he says he's ready for a baseball "costume" and to play ball. His favorite cap is his green "Ron Deere" cap he got for his birthday. He's fast and furious on his little green tractor, and he's ALL boy ALL day long.

Avery acts like a little teenager, crossing her legs and giggling in such a silly way. She's still so easily excited and happy which is awesome; however, she's still got the red-headed temper and wants her way😳. She and Bryce both love watching goofy videos on YouTube which I still haven't figured out. She continues to love drawing and coloring.

Next up: SUMMER BREAK! This year has flown by!
