Life as a Toddler...

Miss Avery is doing great these days!
Since getting tubes, her hearing and speech have both improved. She also surprises us with all of the things she comprehends. She says "Nigh, Nigh" when it's time for sleep, tries to say "bunny," and still says "Dhis" when she wants something. She also says some form of "Dora" for Dora the Explorer, and "Darla" for her baby doll.
She still hasn't reached 20 pounds, but is still eating normally (as normal as any toddler eats I think). She is a picky eater, but surprises us some times. She is still proportionate and staying healthy. Aside from a recent stomach bug, she's been well.
Avery doesn't return to her cardiologist until this summer, but her last appointment went really well. We, of course, hope to be off medication by her next appointment.
We return to the endocrinologist in May, where we will discuss putting Avery on growth hormones. Her doctor feels she will really benefit from them, and reach a more average height, especially since Jake and I are both fairly tall. Without them, she'd be under 5 feet. The down side is that she will have to take injections every day, 7 days a week, until she is 16. Fortunately, the needle is very small, and really looks like an insulin injection pen. We will consult again with her cardiologist and asks some more questions before making a final decision.
Avery's balance and depth perception are great, which I am also very thankful for since TS girls can have issues in that area.
Baseball season is now in full swing! Avery is really enjoying running around at the games, and has become "Miss Congeniality!" She walks around saying "Hey" and "Bye-Bye" while waving and blowing kisses to bystanders. Sometimes I think she feels as if everyone is there to see her, lol! She loves being outside, and throws and absolute fit when we bring her inside at this point. Give this girl an open field, let her run around, and she is happy as can be! I am learning to be a good mother of a red-head, and am applying sunscreen regularly! I wish she'd wear her hats (all the hats that just sit in her drawer), but no such luck!
While Avery is still very loving and affectionate, she is definitely hitting the "Terrible 2's!" She is manageable most of the time, but if she is tired, WATCH OUT! She doesn't take no for an answer at that point. She also enjoys climbing onto the furniture and, unfortunately, the fireplace. When I walked into the living room from the kitchen the other day, she had her nose to the T.V. screen, and then began pushing all of its buttons!
She still loves her "Yo Gabba Gabba," but has added "The Fresh Beat Band" to her favorites now. Her new dance moves are hysterical- I have no idea where she learns this stuff! Avery, like her Daddy of course, is a regular cut-up! She makes our life so much fun- she's our entertainment! Everything we do is also funny to her, so I better enjoy this before I hear, "Mom, STOP it, you're embarrassing me!"
Oh, these are the days! I feel more and more blessed every day for this precious gift God has given me!
