Back to School 2014!

Avery is taking ballet and tap from Debra Franco (where I grew up dancing). Miss Sonia is her teacher, and she is really enjoying it. Well, except for last week when she had a meltdown when Jake took her. I think it was because she was getting sick though. She's been at home for the passed several days with her tummy, and her ears have been full of junk non-stop!

Avery had her yearly check-up with Dr. Harmon, her urologist. This is always a difficult appointment for all of us. Avery gets an ultrasound (which went well this year) and then a VCUG (not so well). It is painful for her, and we have to hold her down for a long time through the process of checking for reflux. It was still there, so it was decided that we would take a less invasive approach and have deflux surgery. If this is successful, Avery will no longer have the yearly VCUGs or take her daily antibiotic. We will check in 3 months (with, yes, another VCUG) to see. The crazy thing is that while in surgery, Dr. Harmon found that Avery has two complete ureters on both side (rather than the normal one on each side). While it shouldn't be an issue, it does lessen the chance of the procedure he did working. Still, we will check and if it didn't work, we will do the deflux one more time before doing open surgery to correct the issue. Avery also still has the cysts on her kidneys, but they are not causing a problem. The day of surgery was tough, but she made it through. While she was given Verset, Avery still didn't fall asleep to be carried into the OR or resist from putting up a fight as I handed her over! She was pretty funny while coming off anesthesia on the way out of the hospital as you can see in my Youtube videos!

Avery started K4 in Mrs. Kati's class at Agape Christian Montessori School this year. We took her new teacher a flower and took some cookies for her new friends on the first day. She is so excited to get and go to school every day! She has homework, takes her lunch, and carries her book bag...I don't know when she got so grown up! It is such a relief to see how much she is learning! Avery looks at books, touches the words, and acts like she is reading by making up her own words to the pictures, she ASKS ME to read to her, and will actually sit and listen! It is all so new and exciting for me as her mom. She used to shut me down at the onset of singing the "ABC'S", so you can imagine how this feels, lol! She has made lots of friends at school and church, and is just a happy-go-lucky kid for the most part. We are still struggling with Avery's hearing and ear infections, which can make learning an obstacle, but we hope to overcome that soon. She returns to the ENT this week, so we will see what he can do. It is very frustrating for all of us! Avery still get overly tired, and she has her meltdowns at home after school, but on the days she happens to actually nap during nap time, that doesn't happen. She does remarkably well in memorizing her memory Bible verses which just....it just gives me an indescribable feeling and sense of peace! She knows her vowels and sounds pretty well, but we are working hard on the consonants and numbers now. She tends to get them all confused. I know with time and effort, it will come! She is in a small class, and that is just what she needs! I am thankful every day that we ended up holding her back and putting her at Agape.

Oh Bryce-Man...he is getting SO big and changing SO much! He loves to sing and dance around. He tends to throw left-handed. He is talking up a storm, and is the most lovable, huggable little guy ever! He continues to be a Momma's Boy! He is counting and singing the alphabet. He follows his sister around and mimics her! When the Ninja Turtles come on, he starts saying, "Ya-Ya" and acting like he is fighting! He gets that from Avery too! When he doesn't get his way, he lies face down on the floor....it's hilarious! He is quite the drama king! He got in trouble once at school for biting; however, his teacher insisted it was because the other kid was trying to get into the toy Bryce was playing with. He has all the women wrapped! He loves church and school, and is a normal, busy little toddler! He gets dirty and plays hard, just like most boys do. He's gotten into saying, "Nowa" lately too! Isn't like a kid who's almost 2?? I can't believe that will only be in a few more months!

He got a new Thomas bed, but he only sleeps in it for naps, lol! He is still in the bed with Mommy and Daddy, but since we got a new bed, Mommy doesn't mind at all!

He got some new kicks for school, and he had to put them on in the store!
The boy likes to dress!

We went to support the Choctaws to kick-off fall sports. Little did we know that we'd end up in the Weekly Leader. We are proud of Daddy and his alma mater!

The Tucker Cross Memorial Alumni Game was a success again this year! How cool is it that Bryce got to play with Tucker's little brother, Tayde, this year? They are SO adorable! It's always good to see everyone and watch the old guys reliving their glory days!

We had an outdoor service at Crossway. The weather turned out perfect, and the kids had fun bouncing away the afternoon! Avery did a great job singing on stage with the preschoolers too! She is a performer!

We had a fun girl's day with Avery's class at Nichols-Boyd Pumpkin Patch on a field trip recently. It was a gorgeous day! We decided to do a little shopping at Target and grab some lunch while we were over by our old stomping grounds too. I love spending time with my girl!

Avery even put on her Halloween costume for the Harvest Festival once she got to school that day. She would not put it on for Mommy or Daddy that morning, but Mrs. Kati had the power to do so! While she stayed inside during some of the games because of a puppy costume (and some other bigger kids dressed up), Avery had a great day and overcame some more of her fears that day! She also came home with candy and prizes!

Papaw and GG attended Grandparent's Day at Agape with Avery. She was SO excited for them to come and see her at school!

While we are going through the same as usual with this season and illness, we have gotten out to enjoy the beautiful fall weather some. There is a nice playground area right by our apartment, so it's easy to run out for a few minutes to play and get some sun!

Avery will be in her first wedding this December as a flower girl. She loves Mr. Matt and is really excited about it. The day she was supposed to get fitted for her "princess dress," she had been sick, so she wasn't too happy at first. She FINALLY put it on and couldn't keep from smiling (even though she tried hard).
