It's Fall Ya'll!

I love the fall! It's so nice to go outside without breaking a sweat!! We've been going on walks, and had a fun day at the park recently. Avery is always full speed ahead when she is outside. She just loves running, walking, and playing (most of all walking). GG made her a cute little Halloween top, so I decided to take a few pics before we went on a walk one afternoon after 'school.'

I was so excited to return to Nichols Boyd Pumpkin Patch this year. Avery liked it last time, but I knew she'd be much more into to it this year. We went earlier in the day, and the weather was perfect for a hayride. It was such a beautiful day to be outside. Avery looked at the animals and imitated the animal sounds- she really had a good time. We found 3 nice pumpkins, took some great pics, and Avery loved swinging and running around the field! We ate lunch at Five Guys afterwards, and I had to keep messing with Avery in the car to keep her from crashing before we stopped to eat! She was exhausted, but perked back up to eat some burger and fries! We DID crash for a little while once we returned home, and painted our pumpkins that afternoon. My little artist did a great job, don't you think?

This past week was a week of Infant Loss Awareness, so on Saturday night, we lit candles in memory of some special little babies who are now angels in Heaven- Brooklyn, Evelyn, Emily, Sadie, and Molly, who all passed from pre-natal and post-natal complications, some including heart defects and Turner Syndrome. I held Avery as I lit each candle, and she so sweetly did her best to repeat their names after me. Then, we held hands as a family and prayed for each family, and all of the families that have lost children. I also praised God for blessing me with Avery and for her good health- we are so grateful for her.
There is just something about the fall. While I love baseball season and all of its excitement, I get excited about the time we are able to spend as a family during this time of year. Having a child brings a whole new meaning to the holiday season, and I look forward to it more and more each year!

Daily Adventures, An Avery Update

It's been a while since I have update the blog about Miss Avery, so I figured I'd write about what my little cupcake has been up to! I love that picture! Carrie took that of her at Nicole's baby shower. She gave Baby Alexa a Rosalina smocked baby doll just like her own baby doll. Of course, Avery didn't attend the shower. She just stopped by for a visit at the end. So many people in Nicole's family (which I have always dubbed my second family) prayed and pray for her, so I am so happy that those who hadn't met her were able to!

Avery has been busy as always...reading with Daddy (and Mommy),
She's been testing out her toddler bed, since we decided to take the front off.
She still hasn't actually slept in it, but we are working on it now. I've been laying down with her at night until she falls asleep. We made it into a toddler bed because I was climbing in and out to lay down with her!
She loves 'babbles' now, and has even learned to blow a few of her own! We are enjoying this fallish weather! If Avery could run around all day outside she would. She even stops sometimes these days for Mommy to snag a picture. She thought it was fun to sit on GG's old pot in my parents' front yard. It made a cute pic!

Avery has been really interested in Mommy's shoes lately. She likes to go in my closet and pull them out. Amazingly, she can actually walk a bit in some of my huge shoes! She really likes the boots, and I made Jake stand behind her for this picture to make sure she didn't fall back and hit her head!

Avery has been having a blast and getting in some cousin bonding with Cooper lately. They are so much fun to watch!

I really enjoyed getting to meet the sweet kids of my college roommates recently, and they were able to meet Avery for the first time! Luke is Yvie's son, and Zoe is Karessa's little girl. They were both so cute, and it had been way too long since I had seen the Edwards Family! I miss my old friends, and Avery loved playing with her new friends, Luke and Zoe!!

A very special little friend of Avery's, Ian Martin, turned one recently. He is an absolute miracle, and we were honored to be invited to share in his birthday celebration. Ian's mommy, Lacey, and I have become good friends, and I just feel so blessed by this family! Avery had a blast jumping and playing at the party, and even ran into some old friends from Batson- a few PICU nurses who cared for her after she was born. Days like that remind me of how precious these kiddos are, and how special we are to be blessed with them!

My childhood friend, Melissa Rains, began a new children's clothing business called Little Honeybees. I really enjoyed having her over for a trunk show. Avery looks like a doll in the little outfits Melissa made her!

On the day this photo was taken, Avery had an Endocrinology appointment with Dr. Dixit. Since beginning growth hormone injections, Avery has grown 1.5 inches and gained 2 pounds! Thankfully, we still haven't experienced any negative side effects and she is responding well to the treatment. Dr. D decided to up her dosage a tad, and she will get bloodwork to check things out at her next appointment in about 3 months. I was glad to hear positive feedback today. It can be a little worrisome to put those of types of medications into your child understanding all of the side effects they can cause. Thankfully though, she hardly cries (and strangely laughs sometimes) when we give them to her these days. I continue to pray that she will respond well, and continue growing like a weed! She is on the 'normal' growth chart for the first time ever- in about the 3rd percentile.
Avery's next appointment is her MR which is scheduled for December. We will be blessed to have a 3D view of her heart! I am praying for it to continue to work beautifully, and for everything to look perfect! Avery will also go under anesthesia for the MR, and after she got sick from the meds after her tube insertion, I hope she does well after this!

Avery is growing and changing so much right before my very eyes. She makes me smile continously, as she does for most people she comes across. There is such a light and a happiness about her, and it is absolutely contagious! She has the normal 2 year old mean streak, and is a spoiled mess at times, but even then, we love her madly! What can I say? The girl knows what she wants! Avery is talking so much more, and still loving her 'school.' When I asked if she'd ever hit anyone there, her teacher, Ms. Mary, had a puzzled look on her face. She told me all Avery ever does is run up and hug her friends! She says please and thank you (tank tu), and I am now working on ma'am and sir, because every southern belle must say those words from an early age! She is so smart is surprises me sometimes. She was watching Yo Gabba the other day, and Brobee was talking about the color purple. She looked at me, pointed to her shirt, and said "purple" (of course in her own way)- her shirt was purple! She says "wellow," "kink," and other colors as well, and has gotten into coloring more than before. She is starting to say animal names and sounds more and more, and knows lots of letters. She recognizes the letter, and will repeat the sound it makes atfer me. She also has a new fascination with Tinker Bell, so she's been wearing her Tink PJs and getting Tink stickers after her shots. While she still watches Gabba, she hasn't wanted to watch The Fresh Beat Band lately. She loves Blues Clues the most I think. She half-way watched her first movie (first that she's paid attention to) recently as well- Tangled. She is really into cleaning out cabinets and pulling things out of drawers, so we had to invest in more saftey latches. On a daily basis, she pulls everything out of her chest of drawers in her room. She insists on putting on various items from her pajama drawer, and Daddy lets her come up with some hilarious outfits! She brings us shoes, shirts, and pants, and pulls off whatever she is wearing, then fusses until we help her put her chosen items on. She is also throwing fits about what she wears in the morning (mainly with Daddy). He asked that I lay out 2 choices, so she could pick, and it seems to be working!! What am I going to do with this little monster, hahaha! The thing is Daddy says I created that little clothes monster, and I can't deny that I did!!
As always, every day is an adventure with Miss Avery Elizabeth Bell!
